Description

Claude is research director at CNRS, the French national research agency. He also heads the IICA (Interdisciplinary Institute for Contemporary Anthropology) a research and graduate studies unit of the famous EHESS in Paris. His own main area of research has been a comparative, social science perspective on food and nutrition, their role and determinants in societies and cultures. His work covers the structure and function of cuisines, taste and preferences, body image and their evolution and change over time and space. He has published numerous articles and chapters on these issues as well as several books.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
